Delta Ramp Agent Practice Exam

In situations requiring preconditioned air, the primary equipment used is the preconditioned air unit. This piece of equipment is specifically designed to supply temperature-controlled air to the aircraft while it is parked at the gate. Providing preconditioned air is crucial for maintaining a comfortable environment for passengers and crew onboard, especially in extreme weather conditions.

The preconditioned air unit connects to the aircraft through a specialized hose, delivering either heating or cooling air directly into the cabin. This process helps minimize the need for the aircraft’s own environmental control systems to operate while on the ground, thereby saving fuel and reducing wear on the aircraft systems.

Understanding the role of the preconditioned air unit highlights its importance in ensuring passenger comfort and operational efficiency during ground handling.
